Calculate your ideal Field of View for iRacing, ACC, F1, and more.
Calculated FOV
Why is FOV important?
Correct Field of View (FOV) ensures that the sense of speed and distance in the simulator matches reality. This allows for better judgment of braking points and cornering speeds.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is correct FOV important?
Correct Field of View (FOV) is critical because it syncs the virtual camera with your physical position. When your FOV is "mathematically correct" (1:1 ratio), the objects on screen move at the same speed/size as they would in real life relative to your viewing angle. This makes judging braking points, corner apexes, and speed much more natural and intuitive.
How to measure the distance?
Sit in your racing rig as you normally would. Use a tape measure to measure the distance from the bridge of your nose to the center of your main monitor. Enter this exact value in centimeters for the best results.
What if the FOV feels too narrow?
A mathematically correct FOV can often feel "zoomed in" or narrow, especially on single small screens. This is normal! It might be uncomfortable at first because you lose peripheral vision, but your depth perception will be perfect. If it's unplayable, you can increase it slightly, but know that you are sacrificing distance accuracy for situational awareness.
Do I need to change settings in every game?
Yes. Each game handles FOV differently (Vertical vs Horizontal, Degrees vs Radians). Our calculator provides the specific value and unit you need for each simulator.
